My name is Jen Steel, and I can't get enough of plants. I can usually be found inspecting leaves or bark, nibbling the nearest edible plant and crafting herbal wellness for my friends and family here in the Pacific Northwest. I am currently in my second year of herbal studies at the Herb Whisperer School (formerly East West School of Planetary Herbology) with a heavy leaning in TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, theory and practice. My mother, who was my initial inspiration, had a very small cut and dried flower and herb business when I was young. I graduated from The Ohio State University College of Agriculture in 2002 with an Associate’s Degree in Horticulture and a B.S. in Plant Health Management while completing an Honor’s science project in the endomycorrhizal colonization of Taxus roots grown in compost.
Did I say “ I LOVE PLANTS??”
The wonders of God’s creation, the complexity, goodness and intelligence of such design is most apparent to me each time I look at a flower, or inspect the tiniest fungus.
I am fortunate to call the tiny hamlet of Greenwater, which is nestled on the North side of Mt. Rainier, home with my husband and three daughters.
